Dubbed “the reflection machine” by Pritzker Prize-winning architect, Jean Nouvel, Monad Terrace floor plans feature a sawtooth profile that faces the water garden and lagoon. The effect? No one ever loses view of the bay and sky – and at the same time privacy is attained. This playful interplay of light and water has a beautiful side effect – at night the building glows like a paper lantern or a silver moon.
The unique honeycomb sawtooth façade is engineered to coax incoming light into simultaneously giving you amazing views and much appreciated privacy. This is achieved by the bespoke engineered screen system built into the faceted glass walls of each residence. The glass facing the bay is clear. The glass facing adjacent residences – when viewed from an angle – becomes opaque. These same screens, when viewed head on, become transparent. The result is both beautiful and functional. Light bends to lend a shimmering ambience to your home and hide you from the outside world.
The building is elevated 11.5 feet! It is the first structure in Miami Beach to be built above updated flood and sea level elevations, and the first to be constructed above West Avenue’s new height. It puts all interior spaces and the garage entrance well above the flood plain – Nouvel seamlessly engineered environmental responsibility and innovative climate resilience features into the building’s architecture.
